A Many Coloured Coat

I t is so easy to praise God for his Sovereignty when things are going well. “YES, You LORD are King of Kings and all my bills are paid and everyone is well and happy!” But what about when that isn’t the case? What about when things are not going how we would like? What about when tragedy strikes?

He is still Sovereign.

He is still on the throne and He is still the King of Kings.

And His Glory will still be revealed, even amidst our sin, our mistakes, our fall. We were made to bring Him Glory. Whether we are doing it right or wrong, He will still be glorified and nothing the enemy nor we could ever do will ever change that.

The story of Joseph is an amazing story of God’s faithfulness. In the midst of his brothers’ sin, God is still sovereign. God is still accomplishing His purposes and God is still keeping His promises.

When there is hurt or when there is pain, whether it is in Joseph’s life or our own, there is a tendency to think that God has forgotten us, that somehow because there is injustice, that because there is pain, that somehow God has lost control of the situation.

I’ve said it so many times… God is not faithful to me because I’m faithful to Him. I’m not. I try to be, but I’m not fooled into thinking I am and neither is He. He is faithful to me because He is faithful. That is His character and my character does not detract from His.

God is sovereign, He will accomplish His purposes, He will keep His promises in His way and in His time. We only need to have faith in Him and trust in Him, even when things are a struggle. Because no matter what, God is still in control, He is still on the throne, He is still the King of Kings… He is Sovereign.

“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.”
Genesis50.20
